A name is a brand. If you change it easily, the value of a brand which is gained by a great deal of hard effort also loses easily.
In my opinion, the best way to improve HUST is to make more solid effort, not just to merge some other univ.. A good univ. does not mean a big univ. Caltech is very small, but is pretty strong. On the other hand, a big univ. could be a univ. with many poor-quality departments. I'll continue my graduate study in MIT. Compared to HUST's campus size, MIT is not big too. A name's value lies in its quality and history, not its size.
